How do I get the latest navigation map updates for my SYNC system?

Based on your SYNC®* generation, you may receive updates automatically, or you must request them online.

Keeping your SYNC maps updated improves accuracy and helps you find more efficient routes.

The steps to ensure your SYNC map has the most recent update are below.

Identifying Your Vehicle's SYNC Generation

Updating Your SYNC Navigation Map

Select your SYNC generation from the list below to learn how to update your SYNC navigation,

SYNC 4

You will automatically receive map updates through software updates** during your complimentary trial and subscribed service periods.

Full map updates occur once per year. Updates for the radius you drive most often occur quarterly.

You can extend your subscription at Lincoln.com/connectedservices.

SYNC 3

To update your navigation maps in a vehicle with SYNC 3 with a USB or digital download:

  1. Go to the SYNC and Navigation Updates page, and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
  2. Select Check for update.
  3. Update SYNC to the most current version if "SYNC Update Available" is displayed under "SYNC Updates."

    Note: If your Navigation is up-to-date, you will see a green checkmark and a message stating that an update is not available.

  4. Choose Check for Map Updates under Navigation Updates.
  5. Select Get Started. You will be taken to the Ford Navigation Store.
  6. Enter your VIN, and select Check Available Updates
  7. Select an update method (USB drive or digital download).
  8. Follow the installation instructions.

SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation, SYNC with MyLincoln Touch®, SYNC with Navigation "P", SYNC Generation 1.1, and SYNC Generation 1

To request an SD card to update your navigation maps in a vehicle with a SYNC generation prior to SYNC 3:

  1. Go to the SYNC and Navigation Updates page, and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
  2. Update SYNC to the most current version if "SYNC Update Available" is displayed under "SYNC Updates".
  3. Select Check for update.

    Note: If your SYNC Navigation is up-to-date, you will see a green checkmark and a message stating that an update is not available.

  4. Visit the Lincoln Navigation Store.
  5. Enter your vehicle year and model in the search bar.
  6. Choose from the SD card options and select Add to Cart.
  7. Complete the checkout process. The map update will be mailed to you.
