How do I check for SYNC updates?
You can view available SYNC®* 4 updates in your vehicle. For most other versions of SYNC, go to the Lincoln SYNC and Navigation Updates website.
Looking for SYNC Software Updates
Select your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to verify if there are any updates available for your SYNC system. If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.
Identifying Your SYNC Software Generation

SYNC 4
To check for an update with SYNC 4:
- Select Settings on your SYNC screen.
- Select Software Updates.
- Tap Update Details to display any pending updates and previous update details.
SYNC 3, SYNC with MyLincoln Touch®, SYNC Generation 1.1, and SYNC Generation 1
To check for an update with SYNC 3, SYNC with MyLincoln Touch, SYNC Generation 1.1, and SYNC Generation 1:
- Visit the SYNC and Navigation Updates page.
- Enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and select Check for update.
- Select the SYNC Update Available dropdown.
- If your SYNC software is current, you will see a green checkmark and a message stating that an update is not available for your vehicle.
- If your SYNC software is not current, you will see a triangle with an exclamation point. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete your software update.
