How do I turn off Apple CarPlay with SYNC?

You can disable Apple CarPlay®* in the Settings menu of your SYNC®** system. 

Deactivating Apple CarPlay

Select your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to turn off Apple CarPlay. If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.

SYNC 4

To disable Apple CarPlay with SYNC 4:

  1. Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen. 
  2. Tap Phone List.
  3. Select your phone from the list of devices.
  4. Press Disable

Apple CarPlay will be disabled, and normal SYNC functionality will resume.

Note: Apple CarPlay may need to be disabled to use some Lincoln Way®† App functions.

SYNC 3

To disable Apple CarPlay with SYNC 3:

  1. Select Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Swipe and press Apple CarPlay Preferences.
  3. Choose your phone from the list of devices.
  4. Tap the drop-down arrow and press Disable to disconnect.

Apple CarPlay will be disabled, and normal SYNC functionality will resume.


*Requires phone with active data service and compatible software. SYNC® 3/SYNC® 4 does not control 3rd party products while in use.  3rd Parties are solely responsible for their respective functionality.

**Don't drive while distracted or while using handheld devices. Use voice-operated systems when possible. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in gear.  Not all features are compatible with all phones.
