How do I connect SYNC®* to a Wi-Fi** network?

The instructions to connect SYNC to a Wi-Fi network can be found below.

Identifying Your Lincoln's SYNC Generation

There are two resources to help you identify your vehicle's SYNC generation:

  • The SYNC and Navigation Updates page allows you to enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and select Check for update, or choose Login and use your Lincoln credentials. Your current SYNC generation will appear on the right-hand side of the page.
  • The SYNC Visual Reference Guide has example images of each generation of SYNC Lincoln has offered.

Connecting SYNC to Wi-Fi

Select from the options below:

SYNC 4

  1. Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Connectivity.

  3. Press Manage Wi-Fi Networks.

  4. Toggle System Wi-Fi to ON.
  5. Press View Available Networks.

    Note: Your system will display available networks. You can also search for hidden networks by selecting Add a Network.

  6. Select an available Wi-Fi network.
  7. Enter the network password if prompted.

When you are connected, a Wi-Fi Connectivity icon will show on your SYNC screen. After you add a network, your vehicle will automatically connect to it when in range.​​​

SYNC 3

  1. Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Scroll to the right and select Wi-Fi & Hotspot.
  3. Select System Wi-Fi.
  4. Toggle the Wi-Fi to On and select View Available Networks.
  5. Select a Wi-Fi network from the list of networks that display. 
  6. Enter the Wi-Fi network's password, if prompted.

When you are connected, a Wi-Fi Connectivity icon will show on your SYNC screen. After you add a network, your vehicle will automatically connect to it when in range.
