Safety Recall Reference Number: 23S12

The safety of you and your passengers is key to every vehicle we build. That is why we’ve issued a recall for some 2013–2019 Lincoln MKX and MKZ models.

The front brake hoses on certain models could develop a leak, resulting in increased brake pedal travel and reduction in the rate of deceleration.

If your vehicle is affected, you will be notified by mail to take it to a Ford Dealer or Lincoln Retailer to have both front brake hoses replaced for free. We will also modify the ride-height sensor if equipped. You can see if your vehicle is included by entering your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) here.

You can book an appointment online with participating retailers, in your Lincoln Way® App or contact your local Lincoln Retailer.

Keeping drivers and passengers secure is a top priority at Lincoln. For questions or concerns about safety recall 23S12, please call us at 1-866-436-7332. A Recall team member will be happy to assist you.

As always, thank you for being a Lincoln owner.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the issue tied to this recall?

Clients in certain 2013–2019 Lincoln MKX and MKZ models may experience an increase in pedal travel and reduction in the rate of deceleration due to a brake hose rupture and brake fluid loss.

What is the cause of the issue?

Significant steering and suspension on the brake hose could cause it to rupture, causing a leak.

Will I still be able to engage the brakes?

Yes. These vehicles are equipped with two isolated brake circuits, allowing the vehicle to be stopped safely if one circuit is leaking.

What is the expected repair?

Retailers will replace both front brake hoses and modify hose routing/ride-height sensor if equipped.

Can clients tell if they need to contact the retailer immediately?

Yes. The brake fluid warning indicator light will illuminate.

When will you notify clients?

We will begin notifying clients by mail in April 2023. Replacement parts are expected to be available this coming summer.

Will there be a charge to clients?

No.
