How do I turn off automatic software updates?

If you choose to have full control of the software updates for your SYNC®* system and want to know the details prior to the update, you can turn off automatic updates using the in-vehicle SYNC screen. Lincoln recommends that you set automatic updates to on.

To turn off software updates, follow the steps below.

Turn Off Automatic Updates

Confirm your SYNC generation through the SYNC and Navigation Updates page. Enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and select Check for Update, or select Login and use your Lincoln credentials. Your SYNC Generation will appear under SYNC Current Version.

To turn off Automatic Updates:

  1. Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select System Updates.
  3. Toggle the Automatic Updates option to OFF. A confirmation pop-up will appear.
  4. Tap Continue.
