How do I add a destination with SYNC Navigation?
You can search for or input a destination using the SYNC®* touchscreen or voice commands.
Setting a Destination with SYNC Navigation
Important: Ensure that your vehicle is on and running in a well-ventilated area and in Park (P).
Select your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to set a destination with SYNC. If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.

SYNC 4
To set a Navigation destination with SYNC 4:
- Press the Search bar at the top of the navigation map screen.
- Enter your destination using the keyboard.
- Select your destination from the list.
- Tap Start to begin navigation.
SYNC 3
To set a destination using voice commands with SYNC 3:
- Press the Voice Command button on your steering wheel.
- Tell SYNC where you want to go.
- Follow the directions SYNC gives you by viewing the touchscreen navigation map or a detailed turn-by-turn set of directions. Learn more by reviewing the How do I use SYNC voice commands? article.
To set a destination using your vehicle's SYNC 3 touchscreen:
- Press Nav on your vehicle's SYNC feature bar.
- Select Destination.
- Choose a destination entry method.
- Tap and hold your finger on the map. A viewfinder will appear.
Move the touchscreen to position your desired location under the viewfinder.
Note: The touchscreen allows you to interact with the map by using convenient swiping, zooming, and pinching gestures, similar to those used with your smartphone.
- Press the Start button to select the desired location.
- Press Set as New Destination.
Notes:
- When you are on an active route, the SYNC Navigation map shows your estimated time of arrival, remaining travel time, and distance to your destination.
- SYNC 3 provides an automatic re-route if traffic conditions change to cause a major delay on the originally selected route.
- Minor traffic changes will not provide a re-route. This feature requires an active SiriusXM®** Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link subscription.
SYNC with MyLincoln Touch®
To set a destination using voice commands using SYNC with MyLincoln Touch:
- Press the green Navigation bar at the top-right on the touch screen.
- Press Dest.
- Choose a destination entry method.
Notes:
- Destinations can also be set using voice commands.
- When the vehicle is in motion, some choices are grayed out.
SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation
To set a destination using SYNC Next-Generation Navigation:
- Press the Dest hard button.
- Press Standard on the screen.
- Choose a destination entry method.
To set a destination with SYNC Navigation "P" Version:
- Press the Dest hard button.
- Choose a destination entry method.
Note: When the vehicle is in motion, some choices are grayed out.
*Don't drive while distracted or while using handheld devices. Use voice-operated systems when possible. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in gear. Not all features are compatible with all phones.
