What is Lincoln AdvanceTrac Electronic Stability Control?

The AdvanceTrac® system with Roll Stability Control™* offers additional features to the Traction Control System to keep vehicles from losing traction in difficult driving situations.

What are AdvanceTrac features?

See the table below for all features included in the AdvanceTrac system and a description.

AdvanceTrac FeatureFeature Description
Traction Control System Helps avoid drive-wheel spin and loss of traction by selectively applying the brakes and modifying engine power
Electronic Stability ControlHelps to avoid skids or lateral slides, lateral acceleration, and steering wheel angle
Roll Stability ControlHelps to avoid a vehicle rollover by using a roll-rate sensor, selectively applying brakes, and modifying engine power

How does AdvanceTrac work?

AdvanceTrac is on by default and requires no driver interaction to operate. AdvanceTrac senses when your vehicle loses control or traction and automatically applies braking and adjusts throttle control to help keep you on the road.

How do I disable AdvanceTrac?

You may need to temporarily disable AdvanceTrac if your vehicle is stuck in mud, sand, or snow. Turning AdvanceTrac off restores full engine power and allows the wheels to spin freely. This enhances momentum when you are trying to get your vehicle unstuck.

To turn AdvanceTrac off, press and hold the Traction Control button.

Your instrument cluster will display a message stating "Traction Control is off." You can turn it back on by pressing the Traction Control button.

Refer to your Owner's Manual for the location of the Traction Control button for your vehicle.

*Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver’s attention, judgment and need to control the vehicle. Remember that even advanced technology cannot overcome the laws of physics. It’s always possible to lose control of a vehicle due to inappropriate driver input for the conditions.
